One of the key methods for achieving defined, bouncy curls is diffusing. However, mastering the art of diffusing can be tricky. In this guide, we'll walk you through the step-by-step process to effectively diffuse your curly hair, unlocking its full potential - no matter what curl type you have!

Diffusing Curly Hair: A Routine for Wavy, Coily & Afro Curls

1. Start by washing your hair with the Curl Cleanser and Curl Conditioner designed specifically for all curl types.

2. Once out of the shower, apply the Styling Products, then gently squeeze excess water from your hair by scrunch drying with our Microfibre Towel or an old t-shirt. Avoid rubbing, as this can cause frizz.
(This step works for every curl type, from a lightweight wavy hair routine to a moisture-rich coily hair or afro hair routine.)

3. After applying your styling products, shield your hair with our Heat Protect Spray. This product is rich in protein to repair and add extra bounce to your curls - perfect for keeping natural curly hair and coily hair strong and defined.

4. Start by hover diffusing - simply hover the diffuser over your curls to set the gel cast and reduce frizz.

5. Gently place your hair into the diffuser bowl and lift upwards towards the roots. Hold that section still whilst it dries and then move around your head in sections. Don't be rough! Keeping the diffuser still will dry your hair without causing frizz.

6. Enjoy frizz-free voluminous curls!

Why We Love Diffusing

We love diffusing because taking off the water weight sooner can result in bouncier curls. Air drying, whilst low maintenance, can take a long time and it can drag your curls down in the process.

For wavy hair routines - diffusing can make the difference between flat waves and defined results.
For coily hair and afro hair - diffusing helps enhance shape and volume while keeping moisture locked in.

Worried about heat damage? Diffusers disperse the airflow over a wider area, which means the heat is not as concentrated on the hair. You can also control the heat with most diffusers, so you can use a low heat setting to protect delicate curl patterns.

Final Tip

Try diffusing after using all the products in our Starter Bundle to get amazing frizz-free curls or waves.
Whether you’re perfecting your wavy hair routine, enhancing bounce in natural curly hair, defining coily hair, or adding volume to afro hair, you’ll love the results!
